Jake M. Grumbach

I am an associate professor at the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley. I was previously associate professor of political science at the University of Washington and a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton.

I study the political economy of the United States. I'm broadly interested in democracy, public policy, racial and economic inequality, American federalism, and statistical methods. Check out my publications and working papers. My book investigates the causes and consequences of the nationalization of state politics since the 1970s.

Before graduate school, I earned a B.A. from Columbia University and worked as a public health researcher. Outside of academia, I’m a nerd for 70s funk/soul and 90s hip hop, as well as a Warriors fan.

Here is my CV, here is my Google Scholar page, and here is my Twitter account.
